Adolescent Health

HIDE-Ug promotes the uptake of adolescent-responsive and school health programs through innovative Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) approaches and improved Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) service delivery. The program also addresses menstrual health and hygiene by challenging myths and misconceptions and promoting safe, dignified, and hygienic practices

Integrated MNCH, HIV, and AIDS Support Program

Kasese District, located in Western Uganda, is home to several fishing landing sites associated with increased sexual activity and higher risks of HIV infection, teenage pregnancy, and related health challenges.

Through this program, HIDE-Ug designs targeted interventions that empower young people to make informed health decisions using a peer-to-peer model. The organisation also advocates for the establishment and strengthening of youth-friendly corners, as well as improved availability and delivery of MNCH and HIV-related services.

Psychosocial Support and Skills Development

HIDE-Ug promotes economic empowerment by equipping young people with practical vocational skills such as sewing and tailoring. Upon completion of training, beneficiaries receive start-up kits to support income generation and self-reliance. The organization plans to expand this initiative to include additional skill areas based on youth interests and market demand.

In addition, HIDE-Ug provides psychosocial support to young people, parents, and caregivers affected by social, environmental, physical, and mental challenges. These services are delivered by trained psychosocial support teams both in-school and out-of-school settings.

Adolescent mothers are further supported through HIDE-Ug’s Young Mothers’ Club (YMC), a peer support network that fosters mutual learning, emotional support, and shared experiences to enhance resilience and wellbeing.

Education Support – Project Africa (OVC Program)

Through the Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) program, Project Africa, HIDE-Ug supports vulnerable children by providing:

Routine school visits are conducted to monitor progress and ensure that learners receive adequate support. Through fundraising and charitable donations, HIDE-Ug also covers school fees for selected orphans and vulnerable children, helping to reduce educational inequalities and enable them to achieve their full potential
